Heartprint

heartprint.org.au

A non-religious NGO running a community support centre in Phum Thmey village, on the outskirts of Siem Reap. Its mission is to create opportunity, not dependency.

Run by Khmer staff and supported by volunteers, Heartprint focuses on housing and education, helping families in rural Cambodia learn new skills, break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient.

Battambang Ophthalmic Care Centre

Free cataract surgery for the rural poor of north-western Cambodia since 2006 — the only service of its kind for a population of over 1.2 million. With full funding it can deliver 5,000 operations a year.

We met its inspiring manager, Ek Sarou, in 2013. Since then we have partnered with Rotary district grants to fund small-scale equipment, and our team visits BOC on every annual trip.

Building Community Cambodia

buildingcommunitycambodia.org

Since building Lotus House in 2016, BCC has provided free English education to more than 300 children, plus women's and girls' health workshops.

Its Elderly Care Program pays monthly pensions through sponsorship. BCC also repairs and rebuilds homes, provides medical and hospital care, and helps elderly people who can still work start small enterprises.

Visiting Cambodia since 2012

Robyn's Cans

Robyn raises money through raffles, sewing, trivia nights and recycling cans — “begging mainly”, in her words. Her can money funds the BCC elderly “Yay Days” (yay is Khmer for grandmother) and bought a tuk tuk for Lotus House. Have cans to donate? Email us and we’ll put you in touch.

Wagga Probus · Since 2017

Dell's Succulents

Dell has propagated and sold succulents for charity for years. After our committee spoke to her Probus club in 2017, she chose to give the proceeds to the DCC school — and often makes a mixed succulent pot for our raffles.
